Description

Excellent condition all around. Minimal wear.

All drivers are working, woofers refoamed in 2024. One midrange was dead, replaced both with Midwest Speaker replacements to ensure they are balanced.

The HPM series, launched by Pioneer in 1977, was a direct challenger to the industry giants of the day. The “HPM” designation itself referred to the use of High Polymer Molecular film in their super tweeters, a technology designed to extend the high-frequency response with unprecedented clarity and speed. While models like the HPM-100 became household names, the HPM-1500 was the undisputed flagship, pushing the boundaries of what a consumer loudspeaker could achieve.

These aren’t speakers you tuck away. Standing nearly four feet tall and boasting a commanding presence, the HPM-1500 demands attention before it even utters a sound. Their robust, wood-grain cabinets (often a rich walnut veneer) exude a classic, purposeful aesthetic that harks back to an era of craftsmanship.

The Crown Jewel: That Top-Mounted Tweeter

What truly sets the HPM-1500 apart visually, and contributes significantly to its unique sonic signature, is its distinctive top-mounted super tweeter. Perched proudly atop the main cabinet, this isn’t your average dome tweeter. It’s an expansive, short-horn loaded high polymer molecular super tweeter, designed to handle the uppermost echelons of the audio spectrum.
